We’ve got some exciting news to share. The latest ‘Friend of WY Basketball’ is Paul Mitchell – the former Head of Foundation at the Bradford Bulls Foundation.
Paul has spent nearly two decades working in and around sport, both on the club and sponsor side, with a resume that boasts big-name organisations like Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Bradford & Bingley. He is also a longstanding Trustee of the Bradford City Football Club Community Foundation.
Paul successfully navigated the Bulls Foundation through the pandemic, overseeing its rugby league, community support and health and wellbeing initiatives. He also forged new partnerships with local businesses and community organisations. So you can imagine how thrilled Founder of WY Basketball, Mark Mills, is to have Paul’s support. He said, “Paul will be a real asset to what we are trying to achieve here at WY Basketball.”
Currently Paul, who is a fan of the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, works within the Policy & Partnerships Team at Kirklees Council, and knows first-hand the positive impact that a strong and vibrant basketball organisation could have on West Yorkshire and its people. He says, “Basketball is a sleeping giant in the UK. It engages young people from all backgrounds and I believe that, if supported well, WY Basketball can make a huge difference across the region.”
It’s safe to say that Paul Mitchell is a true champion for the positive impact of sport in communities and for businesses. We can’t wait to see what WY Basketball accomplishes with Paul on board.
